The career and celebrity of Marie Collier was like that of a comet.  She appeared quickly, shone with the brightest light, then suddenly passed without warning. For almost two decades, she was a star in the truest sense. Audiences craved to see her and flocked to her performances. She had a legion of fans who hung on her every move. She was a publicist’s dream. From 1953 until 1971, she was never out of the spotlight. Her physical beauty complimented a voice and artistry of glamorous proportions. On the operatic stage - she was electric!

Marie Collier (1927-1971) is generally remembered for two things: for her performances in the title role in Puccini’s Tosca, especially when she replaced Maria Callas at Covent Garden at late notice in 1965; and for her death in a fall from a window at the age of forty-four. But there was much, much more to Marie Collier.

These collected recordings cover the full range of her remarkable artistry at a time when she would have been celebrating her 90th Birthday. Australia has produced many fine singers, but there’s been none as unique as Marie Collier.

The glamorous 3CD set includes 48 page booklet filled with information and photographs (most of which have never been seen before) and tracks includes arias and scenes from: Toscall tabarroLa bohèmeCavalleria rusticanaAïdaManon LescautLa fanciulla del WestTurandotDon Carlo,  Götterdämmerung,  The Queen of SpadesThe Makropolous CaseThe ConsulJenufaKaterina IsmailovaThe Fiery AngelTroilus & CressidaKing PriamOsud and Perchance to Dream and are first commercial releases.
